The Broken Bond

The Broken Bond by Colin Cris Celestial

The sun visibly rises when the morning comes at quarter to 6. I had to sip silently on the edge of the mug filled with hot coffee while roaming my sight outside the window.

A couple with a toddler appeared after a second. They were taking their moment appreciating the greens, the flowers, and interacting with those little pets. When the eyes of the couples met, I saw how the mood of the woman changed quickly. They were like having issues with each other, yet for the sake of their offspring, that's why they're together.

After a while of observing them, they finally walked slowly near to my lawn. I decorated none, but the grass remains neat and appealing to one's sight.

As they stopped in front, my eyes went transfixed to the woman who stopped herself from increasing her walking pace because her child pointed its finger to me. Her gaze met mine in an instant turn of her head.

She's looking at me intently with cold eyes. I saw the full level of hatred a person could feel towards me.

A sudden pang of pain was felt in my chest when they walked away. It is like a million sharp and pointed daggers hitting me endlessly. Especially when I heard their children saying...

"Why don't we visit her? She's my grandmother."

I took a sip again in my coffee, and then I finally tasted the bitterness it has.

I shouldn't have forced my daughter into a marriage she doesn't want.
