At 25, Mayor Rex T. Gatchalian became a public servant. Then he sat as a congressman at 28. He started early because of the influence of his parents on him to be a role model and be in public service.
Being a public servant comes with negativity from the surroundings, and it is sometimes hard to cope and respond instantly.
Despite the negativity, Mayor Rex Gatchalian was able to produce plans and projects that he considered his legacy to leave. He will be a developmental mayor.
To become successful like him, he has straightforward pieces of advice for his inaanaks.
1. Itodo Mo Na!
"... don't ever think that you can cut cornes."
As mayor, Rex Gatchalian anticipated that things would not be as simple as many may believe. But he wanted his inaanaks to remember to pour all their best into things that they wanted and thought were better to do. If it fails, they get back up and rebuild their confidence and goal.
2. Not all popular decision are right
As a leader, Mayor Rex Gatchalian has experienced being canceled or being bashed for making a decision that not all are in favor of. As he said, not all popular decisions are right. If a person decides because of many favors but it is not right, there will be a failure to occur.
So he wanted to instill firm and strong decision-making in his inaanaks.
3. Inspirations comes in simple action
Mayor Rex Gatchalian wanted to convey that someone should not find inspiration. Instead, they can see the simple things and actions, especially those of their parents, peers, and loved ones. Those acts of decency and kindness are the inspiration of someone who will be willing to do great things and contribute to the betterment of themselves and society.
