My Man
When I was a child, I can't remember seeing you smile or laugh,
I'm afraid to approach you 'coz you're strict and tough,
Your face is wrinkled and your hands feel rough,
But you're a caring father—for me that's enough.
I can still recall how you'd always wear your straw hat,
off to our farm you'd go to entrap the pests and rats.
You'd endure the hardships to provide for the family,
and you'd always remind me to finish my studies.
I'll always remember your wise words,
don't waste your younger years—time is gold.
Think before you speak, 'coz words can cut like a sword,
Have faith in yourself just as you have faith in the Lord.
Now that I'm a grown-up man,
I'd like to thank you for everything you've done.
For making me believe that " I can,"
Thank you for your love 'Tay," you're the man!
