2020
Year 2020, year of the rat, a new decade has begun
A fresh new start, brand new year, which we thought would be a lucky one
But instead of long happy days,
instead of a good prosperous year
We were left with a disaster
that enslaved most of us in fear
Locked in their rooms
across all over the globe
All extroverts struggled
and introverts arose
but at the end of the day there were thoughts of dismay
There were a lot of questions of who and of when, how and of why, why today
We were trapped in our worlds, restricted, stripped down
of certain freedoms and normalcy, we were all locked down.
You constantly hear voices of anguish within,
thoughts of uncertainty, doubt and anxiety again and again
Even people who were used to being always happy
Were broke down when they were squashed by reality
It's hard to look ahead when the tunnel is dark
You want to be positive, but man it's very hard
To not think about the deaths,
the numbers that kept rising
To not think about the danger that today is still remaining
And you take a deep breathe in
And you take a deep breathe out
All you can do for now is keep on breathing, and keep on living
sadly some they've even ignored the reality that this is happening
H-O-P-E
Is a four letter word that means differently for you and me
For some it can only exist in fantasy
While for me I still believe it exists in this reality
Kingdoms rise and kingdoms fall
Some made up kingdoms does not even exist at all
They say in this world change is inevitable
Yes, things change in this earth.
But i know there's someone up there that doesn't change at all
H-O-P-E
Is a four letter word, that's today a rare commodity
In this time of desperation
All of our minds are in confusion
In this time of desperation a lot are crying for salvation
H-O-P-E
Is a four letter word and for some it's just a word
A word they've learned in an english dictionary
For some they've dug deep and left it in the cemetery
Apathy, doubt and recurring anxiety
are common Foes of human positivity
But hoping is not synonymous to thinking positively
Coz some may focus on the positive and neglect reality,
And that's just being crazy
But see I opened up this certain book I found while I was glooming
I was groaning in the darkness till I had a glimpse of something glowing
The book talked about this HOPE that was different from what I knew
It said that to hope is not just a feeling, not a desire we put on things that are uncertain
It is an action, rather, a decision, we are to make to put our trust on the unchanging
So I dug deep, I tried to seek what's in this world that is unchanging
And in the end I found someone, instead of finding something
You see there's someone out there waiting, amidst all this he is watching
And it's not as if he's on Netflix and just chilling, in fact he's on top of everything
And the word said he knew all things
And that he knew what he was doing
It said that he knows what's best for us and so certain things he is allowing
It sounds confusing I know, for some i'm sure it's mind boggling
But see this man loved us so much that he gave his everything
Even before we knew his name, he knew ours and he loved us all the same
He saved us once, and with his promises he remained the same
So you can trust when he says he'll draw near when you call upon his name
So in this season of desperation, I'd say be desperate,
not on figuring out whys but on seeking more and more of him
And HOPE, put your hope on him
on him who is unchanging, who remains to be the same
The promises he then have said, he still fulfils today
So hope, decide to put your trust in him
And let him take away the fears
Let him dry away your tears
Let him give you the peace that you were looking for for years
