As a young professional, the weekday routine can be challenging, with long hours at work, deadlines to meet, and the pressure to perform. Our daily grind can cause a considerable amount of stress, which can definitely have negative effects on our mental health, physical health and overall well-being. Therefore, it is essential to have weekend activities that can help us unwind and relax from the pressures of work.


However, it is also important to be mindful of our budget and the unending inflation. So, I have compiled a list of five affordable weekend activities, that I have tried, which can help you unwind from stress without breaking the bank.


1. Movie Marathon with Friends and Loved Ones

Watching movies is a great way to relax and unwind. You can organize a movie marathon with friends and loved ones at home, complete with snacks and beverages. This activity is affordable, and with streaming services like Netflix, Disney, Viu, and HBO Go, you can enjoy a movie marathon without spending too much money.


2. Museum and Local Library Visit

Museums and libraries are great places to visit during the weekend. You can explore the local history, art, and culture of your city or town. Libraries also offer an extensive collection of books and resources that you can enjoy for free. These activities are not only affordable, but they can also be educational and enriching.


3. Outdoor Exercise

Physical exercise is an excellent way to reduce stress, improve mental health and overall well-being. You can go for a walk or jog in the park, hike a local trail or join a local sports club.
