19th Century in the Philippines by Colin Cris Celstial (Young Pilipinas Poetry)

It was the period of challenges and responses,

when there are many negative changes,

in the Philippines history,

that turns out the unforgettable and signifacant real story.

Spaniards colonized Philippine country,

that gives fear and anxiety,

to the Filipinos that got into slavery,

and become the powerless people in their own land in 19th century.

Then there is José Rizal who's the Philippine National Hero,

who wrote the novel Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo,

which unveils how Filipinos lived during Spanish colonial times,

until Rizal was accused that he committed crimes.

Rizal was convicted and sentence to death,

yet Filipinos will never forget,

his heroic act and sacrifice,

and 19th century is the period that people ought to start fighting for right and realize.
